Description: The intern will become an active member of the controls engineering team in support of several important projects throughout the ETD Operations unit.  - Depending on the skillset he/she will be involved in a software development or controls systems development project where their interest level and skillset is an appropriate match.

 

Software: Develop and document a web based inventory management system for the ETD Operations team.

Develop and document an “in-use” vehicle tracking website for monitoring basic parameters from as many as 6 test vehicles.

 

Electrical: Controls implementation of the Regen Lab upgrade and MINO move. Control system upgrade of the DY heavy duty burner rig

 

Day to Day Responsibilities: Participate in the support of Corning Environmental Technologies product testing and development. Assistance with troubleshooting of gaseous emissions sampling equipment and control systems for thermal shock rigs, diesel engines, active transient dynamometers, and facility management systems. Participate in the development and implementation of control solutions that support Corning’s growth and leadership in the industry.

Requirements:

Required Education:
Pursuing BS Electrical, Computer or Software Engineering

Required Years and Area of Experience:
Completed a minimum of 2 years engineering studies

Required Skills:
Basic electronics and/or software programming Electrical Engineers must be able to build basic circuits including

Proper use of soldering equipment
Familiarity with analog and digital I/O wiring techniques.
Sourcing vs. sinking sensors and modules
Current vs. voltage signals
Computer Science and Software Engineers must be familiar with object oriented programming techniques in C#, Visual Basic, Java or C++. Should also be familiar with relational or NoSQL object oriented databases.

Desired Skills:

Understanding or interest in automotive control
systems OBD, CAN, J1939
